THE SECRETARIAT
The Secretary General
The Secretary General of the Anglican Communion is the Rt Revd Anthony Poggo. As an ambassador of the communion, he makes regular visits to Member Churches around the globe and also represents Anglican mission and advocacy prioriites in public life.

A Worldwide Communion
The Anglican Communion is a global family of churches, made up of 42 provinces across more than 165 countries. There are five regions of the Anglican Communion covering Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.
The ACO supports dialogue and collaboration between the member churches, organises official Anglican meetings and facilitates the work of Anglican Commissions and Networks.
The Communion is 42 autonomous Member Churches, also known as Provinces, from around the world.
Together, these churches serve communities and proclaim the Good News in more than 165 countries.
Guided by the Five Marks of Mission, the Anglican Communion shares the Good News of the Christian faith.

Unity, Faith and Order
The Anglican Communion Office works to promote Christian unity, fostering visible communion both within the Anglican family and with other world communions.
This work deals with questions of Christian belief (faith) and church structure (order) that have historically divided denominations. The ACO facilitates theological dialogues among Anglican churches, and ecumenically, with Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, and other Christian traditions.
It provides the theological foundation that makes deeper unity possible—helping churches move from mere cooperation to actual reconciliation and potentially full communion.

Advocacy
From gender equality, racial justice or climate crisis, the ACO supports Anglican advocacy on major issues impacting people and planet.

Connecting and Resourcing
The ACO connects Anglicans as they live out the Five Marks of Mission, offering resources and capacity development to support church communities across the Communion.
